Thanks for visiting! The images you see here reflect my personal interests: insect collecting, bird watching, wildflowers, fishing, wildlife, all things Texas, etc. I produce these works for my own pleasure, but if you enjoy them as well, then I am certainly happy to share them with you! The Best Sellers include one of my favorite bodies of work, what I call my "Insect Narratives". Each drawing in this series is a portrait of an insect that I personally collected on one of many expeditions to remote places in Africa, South, Central and North America, and even Eastern Europe. You will notice writing on these drawings, the narrative aspect of the series that reveals the behind-the-scenes story of how I came to find that bug and what it means to me. While not all stories are as exciting as some, each one is unique as I bare a little bit of my soul in the text. I hope you will take the time to read some of them. The other categories of drawings are the result of direct observation and reference photos that I mostly take myself.
One question people often ask me is "how long did it take you to do that?" Well, it certainly varies, depending on the size of the image and the technique. Of course, smaller drawings such as an 8x10" might take me as little as 8-12 hours while larger images may take 36-48 hours to complete. I have spent as much as 160 hours on a single drawing! Technique also affects how long a drawing takes. Charcoal drawings can be fairly fast (which is why I love it so much) but stippling with a .005 technical pen is painstakingly slow.
